What exactly are the costs involved in getting a website?

please consult with me before doing anything.

  1. You must purchase your domain name (yourbusiness.com) = $20 per year.
  2. You must hire a website hosting service (puts your site on the web) = $10 per month.
  3. My Fee (includes one year of support -updates).

Do I need a website? Why?

If you need more potential clients, customers, or contacts - YES.
If you wish to supply past, present, and future clients with quick and easy access to the latest information on your products or services - YES.
If you want your clients/customers to feel that your business/operation is concerned with providing them with contemporary, convenient and efficient services and support - YES.

How large of a site will I probably need?

Usually, the "basic" package will work for most small business web sites, but it is not a good idea to "constrict" the process with a definite predetermined size limit. The size of your site should actually be determined by the requirements of showing your business/operation well on the world wide web.

How long will it take to make the website?

Usually no longer than 30 days, depending on how quickly you provide the materials (photos - documents) that are necessary.

How many pictures, documents etc. can go on a web page?

The time it takes for a web page to download and display to the site visitor is a function of how much stuff is on the page. Web surfers report much greater satisfaction on sites of which the pages download and navigation is quicker and smoother. It's better to have more fast-loading pages than fewer slow-loading ones. I go to extreme measures to keep pages streamlined and smooth running as well as entertaining and interesting. It's a delicate balance between photos, other graphics, text and links...
In some particular instances longer pages ARE necessary & called for, I will make your pages as long or short as is needed and appropriate for the page content.

How often can I make updates/changes to the site?

The development fee provides for a couple a month, for a year after the site is done.

How soon after sending updates will they be on the site?

Usually the same day - unless I'm doing field work, then 24 - 48 hrs.

How do I "market" the website?

I design your site to rank high in search engine directories and will automatically submit your site to those search engines for listing. You, as the business and site owner need to mention the web site on all your documentations and advertisements, plus add your web site address to all web directories that you are already listed in.

How can I be sure the site will be successful?

Your web site is an advertisement, if anyone out there is looking for your product or service, I'll see to it that they find you, and that you have a great web site for them to browse. Beyond that, it is up to you to be competitive in your prices, terms and services, to make sales.

How long will it take for the site to show up in search engine directories?

Search engines vary in the amount of time they take to index a site in their directories, usually your site will be listed by all the major directories within 30 to 90 days of submission. Your web site should not be submitted to search engines until completed.

Can I track how many visitors the site gets and who they are?

Yes, the web site hosting service I use has a utility for those statistics built in.

If you have any questions or concerns not addressed here please feel free to email me from the contact page.
